Elisabeth Martin Herrera, LMHC
Licensed mental health counselor providing EMDR and online Therapy for Women (couples, groups, and individual therapy) in both English and Spanish in Florida
Hi, I’m Elisabeth Martin Herrera!
I’m a bilingual licensed mental health counselor passionate about helping women heal, grow, and step into their power. Therapy with me is compassionate, empowering, and personal — because true healing is about reclaiming the life you deserve, not just surviving life’s challenges.
With advanced training in trauma (EMDR therapy), couples therapy, relationships, and personal growth, I provide a safe space where you can show up authentically and leave empowered with the tools to move forward.
Healing isn’t meant to be a solitary journey; it’s about taking actionable steps, like seeking support. We thrive when we lean on each other
Healing begins with you
I believe true healing begins with self-compassion. When we forgive ourselves, set healthy boundaries, and prioritize our well-being, we create space for deeper connections and a more fulfilling life
One of my favorite reminders is, “You can’t pour from an empty cup.” That’s why I help women rediscover their strength, release guilt, and build a life rooted in self-love.
Through evidence-based therapies like ACT, CBT, couples therapy, and EMDR, I guide women through trauma, life transitions, and relationship challenges — empowering them to move forward with clarity and confidence.
Trauma shapes you in ways you didn’t choose — healing empowers you to shape yourself in ways you do
I view therapy as a collaborative journey — not about “fixing,” but about walking alongside you. My role is to guide, support, and empower, helping you uncover your resilience and celebrate every step forward. My patients are courageous, self-aware, and committed to creating a life that feels authentic and fulfilling.
You deserve to heal, and I’m here to walk with you every step of the way on your path toward the life you’ve always dreamed of

What is it like to work with me?
My patients often describe our sessions as a safe, calming, and intentional space — a place where you can exhale, reflect, and take meaningful steps toward healing. I am passionate about helping women embrace self-compassion, grow with intention, and step into their most authentic selves.
True growth begins the moment you choose yourself
Together, we’ll explore your strengths, nurture self-care and emotional balance, and craft a life that feels aligned, fulfilling, and authentically yours.
I believe wholeheartedly that everyone is deserving of healing, growth, and joy. You don’t have to carry this burden on your own. In therapy, I’ll provide a safe space and support to help lighten your load.
Step into the life you deserve
Imagine waking up each day with a sense of calm and confidence, equipped with the tools to handle whatever life brings. Therapy is more than just healing; it’s a journey of rediscovering your strength, setting boundaries that safeguard your peace, and creating a life grounded in self-love. Together, we’ll work toward a life where you feel empowered, balanced, and filled with hope.
Let’s start building the life you deserve
Want to learn more about me?
The person….
I was born and raised in Cuba, where the warmth of my family shaped me and the challenges of life taught me resilience. Growing up with few material possessions, I learned that true fulfillment lies not in what we have, but in the strength of our relationships and the peace we cultivate within. My parents and grandmother instilled lessons that guide me to this day — to embrace both softness and strength, to hold space for vulnerability, and to approach everything with love.
At 16, I moved to the United States, stepping into a world full of both opportunity and adversity. Adapting to a new culture, language, and way of life wasn’t easy, but it deepened my understanding of resilience and the courage required to start anew. This journey of self-discovery ignited my passion for mental health and solidified my commitment to helping others navigate life’s complexities with grace and compassion.
These experiences have shaped me into someone who cherishes family, loves her profession, and is dedicated to making a meaningful impact in the lives of others. Beyond my work, I am a deeply sensitive person who adores dogs, children, and dancing, and finds peace in the simple acts of organizing and cleaning.
My bond with my grandmother was especially deep, and her passing left a lasting imprint on my heart. Her wisdom continues to guide me in my work as a mental health professional. Through my own healing, I came to understand that restoration often unfolds in small, meaningful moments. At the time of her passing, I was working with individuals with disabilities, an experience that not only deepened this understanding but also gave me the strength to move forward.
The professional….
From an early age, I’ve been drawn to understanding people’s stories and untangling the complexities of the human experience. At just 12 years old in Cuba, I knew I wanted to become a psychologist. This passion led me to pursue degrees in psychology and clinical mental health counseling.
After completing high school in the United States, I embarked on my undergraduate journey in psychology. My final semester was marked by the inspiration to work with individuals with special needs — a decision that deepened my desire to continue my education and pursue graduate school in mental health counseling. The program transformed me, both professionally and personally, revealing the resilience I never knew I had. It showed me that growth, in all its forms, is rarely linear and is often accompanied by setbacks that challenge our sense of purpose.
Upon completing graduate school, I became a licensed mental health counselor, fulfilling a dream years in the making. Every day, I am deeply grateful for the privilege of walking alongside courageous women as they reclaim their voices, rebuild their confidence, and step into lives they love. This journey inspired me to join Avatar Cognitive and Behavioral Center as the first mental health counselor for the group practice, where I continue to be motivated by the organization’s mission and alignment with my values.
As a therapist, I draw from both my academic knowledge and my personal experiences. I believe in the transformative power of storytelling, connection, and self-compassion. My approach is warm, authentic, and grounded in the understanding that healing is not a straight path — it’s a journey filled with reflection, growth, and discovery.
Today, I am honored to support women as they navigate their own journeys — whether they are seeking clarity, healing from past wounds, or simply looking for a safe space to be themselves, free from judgment. My work is more than just a profession; it’s a calling shaped by my story, my family, and the belief that even in life’s greatest challenges, we can find strength, hope, and a sense of home within ourselves.
Life is an exciting journey, and the rest is yet to be written…
